During a vision quest in 1990, I was given the name Dreamweaver. At the
time I was studying Jungian Psychology at Avalon Institute Boulder, CO,
and
Energy Body Healing at The Body Energy Center also in Boulder. Always,
a strong dreamer, I liked the name, Dreamweaver, because it seemed to
fit not only me, but also the model I was developing to explore the unconscious
for the purpose of self understanding and healing. My method of interweaving
a variety of tools and techniques has grown to include Dream
Work, Archetypal Astrology and
a variety of body energy healing models such as Reiki
& Qigong. During my vision quest,
I also "dreamed" of returning to Montana, the land of my birth, to begin
my practice as a counselor, teacher and body worker when I completed my
studies in Boulder. I saw myself guiding others on vision quests and using
this ancient right of passage to help others heal and grow in spirit as
I had done through the quest experience.
With "missionary zeal," I returned to Montana in 1992, and began leading
quests, teaching dream work classes
and
Native American Studies through the Outreach Program at a small private
college in Billings, while developing my counseling and bodywork practice.
Over the years, I have created a vision quest model I call the Dream
Quest which allows a wider variety of people to participate in this
kind of powerful "right of passage" retreat experience. In 1995, the dream expanded
and Dreamweaver Lodge became a reality when my partner, now husband, Robert McTaggart,
R.N.C. and I purchased a home and land on Rock Creek near Red Lodge, MT.
Together,
Bob and I offer over thirty years of experience in transpersonal psychotherapy,
bodywork and psychological nursing. Bob is a nurse at Billings Clinic Psychiatric
Center in Billings, MT, and I maintain my practice here at Dreamweaver Lodge. At Dreamweaver Lodge, we have eight accessible, but very private, acres that are part of a larger
land grant ranch dating back to the late 1800's. Conveniently located
only 45 minutes south of Billings, MT, and Logan International Airport,
we sit in the center of a rich area of beautiful scenery and fascinating
western history.
Just south of us is the quaint mining town of Red Lodge and Red Lodge
Mountain Ski Area, the Beartooth Highway and the northeast entrance to
Yellowstone Park.
East
is the Crow Indian Reservation, Plenty Coups Park and the Pryor Mountains
rich with Native American history and culture, sun dances, powwows, pictographs,
buffalo and wild horses as well as ancient dinosaur fossil beds. Yellowtail
Dam and Reservoir offers boating, fishing and spectacular canyon views.
Also nearby is Cody, WY, another historical western town named after Buffalo
Bill Cody, where there are rodeos, powwows, unique shopping and the large
internationally known Buffalo Bill Historical Center and Western Heritage
Museum. High atop the Bighorn Mountains between Cody and Sheridan, is
the mysterious Big Horn Medicine Wheel, a large ancient stone circle revered
by all the native tribes in the area. It is still used for sacred ceremony
and vision quest today. These are
only a few highlights that you can experience when you visit Montana and
Dreamweaver Lodge.
Our
facilities at Dreamweaver Lodge include a rustic lodge with hot tub and
sauna, and a large barn with bunkhouse which is my counseling & bodywork
office that also converts to lodging for guests. In the woods along Rock Creek, there is a large pond, three teepees,
a sweat lodge, a labyrinth
for walking meditation, a medicine wheel and a fire circle for drumming
circles and gatherings
of all kinds. From May through October, we offer Dream
Quests, Personal Retreats for individuals and small groups, Reiki
weekend intensive trainings, workshops on Qigong
Practice, Meditation, Archetypal Astrology,
Drum
Making, Mask Making, Mandala Drawing, Journaling, and much more. New in
2007 will be clinics on energy work for horses and hopefully some art
workshops. Be sure
to visit our Schedule page for more information.
Throughout the year, we try to hold sweat lodges at least quarterly,
weather permitting. These are
open to the Dreamweaver Lodge Circle of Friends and their guests at no
charge. The vision that is Dreamweaver Lodge continues to grow every year.
We invite you to follow your dreams to this sanctuary we are pleased to
share with all who are on the path of Light.
