Reiki and Qigong

More people than ever before are becoming aware of the energy anatomy of the human body. In the Orient, various energy body systems, practices, and healing techniques have been used for centuries. Because of the influence of East Indian teachers on the Western World in the late nineteenth and throughout the twentieth century, the term yoga has become very familiar. So too, the chakras, wheel-like vortexes of energy in the energy body, are known to many mainstream individuals. In the past 30 years, more and more energy practices from the Orient have made their way into the West. Two of the most prevalent are Reiki and Qigong. To some, these may seem like relative new-comers, but in actuality they have been practiced for at least 2500 years. Like yoga and all of the energy practices, Reiki and Qigong have many similarities. At the same time there are specific techniques within each that differ. Regardless, both Reiki and Qigong can be interwoven nicely into a group of practices that provide an integrated holistic model of energy body healing. This is our approach at Dreamweaver lodge.

Reiki At Dreamweaver Lodge

Reiki is a Japanese word which means Universal (rey) Energy (kee). It is a simple, gentle, noninvasive hands-on healing method that was rediscovered from ancient Tibetan texts or sutras by Dr. Mikao Usui in the late 19th century. In 1973, Mrs. Hawayo Takata brought Reiki to the U.S., where it has become one of the most popular body energy healing techniques today. Reiki can relieve stress, reduce pain, and enhance wellness. It can be used to compliment any other medication or treatment, supporting and increasing the effectiveness. Reiki is traditionally passed to a student from a master through a series of attunements or initiations which open the student to be a clear channel for universal energy. Of course, since this energy is "universal" it is available to everyone regardless of attunement. What I found after my own attunements, however, is that even after ten years of energy body practice and healing work, I was able to increase the power and amount of energy flow into my own body and that of my clients after Reiki attunements. Reiki is also perhaps the easiest and simplest model of energy healing to learn and practice, although none the less powerful. For these reasons, I highly recommend Reiki training as the first step in learning body energy healing work

Self Healing
"Healer heal thyself," a wise adage that Reiki addresses with a model of self healing that is vitally important for the practitioner to  use to keep her/his own energy body in tune before working on others. For this reason alone, many people learn Reiki simply for self-healing. Reiki is unique in that Level II, III and Master practitioners use exclusive Sanskrit symbols that enhance and direct the power of the energy flow. In level II, specific techniques and symbols are also taught for distance healing, which allow the practitioner to send healing energy to friends, family or any individual or group of people in need. Hence, you are given a wonderful way to serve the planet with Reiki energy.

Enhanced Reiki Training   Because of my training and practice of other forms of body energy work, I often refer to our Reiki program as an "enhanced" Reiki training for  you will receive additional tools and instruction throughout all levels of Reiki training at Dreamweaver Lodge, that are not part of the traditional Usui Reiki curriculum. I have added these teachings to round out the basic Reiki training and create a more useful, responsible and ethical practice for all involved. Some of these include: an overview of energy anatomy from various traditions, a number of chakra work techniques, aura clearing, using Reiki with the Chinese meridian system and applying the use of hands and a pendulum for energy body assessment, the ethics and logistics of establishing a healing practice, incorporating essential oils, gemstones, sound vibration, color, flower remedies, and the assistance of angels, spirit guides and Masters in Spirit with  Reiki.  We also offer a variety of Qigong practices and meditation techniques that integrate well with Reiki. In advanced classes, detection and removal of entity attachment, Hopi BackWork, focusing, centered guidance, trauma release, karmic release: past life regression therapy and archetypal analysis, a form of medical astrology, are some of the elements of energy healing we offer in our program.  In addition, I use and teach on all levels the use of the Violet Flame Seventh Ray energy to bring the highest level of clarity, light, power and protection to the work. I am assisted in the Reiki Trainings by my partner, Robert McTaggart, who is both an R.N. and a Reiki III practitioner. Often, Reiki Master Apprentices assist with classes as well.

Karuna Reiki Training   Karuna Reiki has its roots in Usui and Tibetan Reiki and was introduced to the modern world by William Lee Rand of the International Center for Reiki Training.  Karuna is advanced healing energy for the new millennium that assists us in awakening to Universal Compassion. I find Karuna to be most helpful in psycho-spiritual healing.  There is a strong emphasis on re-patterning of mental and emotional shadow material within the psyche which can then affect our physical bodies, our feelings, our thoughts, attitudes and behaviors and our spiritual connection.  Carl Jung believed that it is the shadow that creates all imbalance and dis-ease in body, mind and spirit. The powerful symbols and techniques of  Karuna Reiki can help balance and heal shadow issues caused by various forms of trauma throughout our lives.  In addition, Karuna seems to raise our vibrational connection to guides, angels and masters in spirit through an opening and expansion of heart chakra energy.  This process strengthens our ability to easily reach a state of centered guidance, where healing can take place very quickly, and to deepen into states of meditation and spiritual connection that can change both the practitioner's life and the lives of their students and clients.  Certificates for all the Karuna trainings are awarded through the International Center for Reiki Training, the only organization offering this trademarked form of Reiki training.

Our Reiki Training Program  Anyone can learn Reiki who has an openness and desire to do so. Whether you are interested in Reiki for self healing, to help a friend or family member, or to become a professional practitioner, or  ultimately a teacher, at Dreamweaver Lodge we offer Usui Reiki training and attunements in four levels and Karuna Reiki training in three levels to serve your needs. Each is more powerful than the previous one and each is prerequisite for the next level of training. We do accept students who have studied with other Reiki Masters. However, you may be required to complete some additional study so you are comfortable with our enhanced program. Practitioners complete levels I, II, and III as weekend intensives after which they can also study Karuna I and II.  Usui Master Level is a one year apprenticeship for those called to teach and make Reiki a way of life. Only Usui Masters can complete Karuna Master training.

Advanced Energy Healing Workshops  In 2006-7 we will be offering by student request four non residential intensive workshops on unique and specialized energy healing techniques that Jaqui uses in her work as a psychotherpist, Reiki Master and Certified Body Energy Practitioner.  The workshops are open to Level 2,3, and Master level Reiki practitioners of all traditions including Karuna Reiki.  In addition, they are open to experienced practitioners of additional forms of body energy healing including but not limited to Vibrational Medicine, Therapeutic Touch, Polarity Therapy, Cranial Sacral Therapy, External Qi Healing and Acupuncture.  Some are also open to psychologists, counselors, nurses, doctors, chiropractors and massage therapists.  All students must have a strong working knowledge of chakras and basic energy anatomy.

Below are Reiki and Advanced Energy Healing Classes offered at Dreamweaver Lodge.

REIKI LEVEL I: attunes you to healing on the physical level. You study energy body anatomy and theory, the history and tradition of Reiki, and learn to give Reiki to yourself and others.

REIKI LEVEL II: attunes you to healing on the mental and emotional levels. You learn three symbols and how to use them during direct and distance healing. In addition, you learn to use Reiki for a wide variety of tasks including enhancing, clearing, protecting, working with plants, animals, etc. Ethics, setting up your practice, and working with essential oils, a pendulum and other healing tools are included in this level.

REIKI LEVEL III: I decided, upon request of many students and after much contemplation, to offer a Reiki III training between Reiki II and Master Level Apprenticeship. Other schools based on Usui Reiki are doing something similar. I believe this is happening because at this time people are  becoming more aware of themselves as both energy beings and spiritual beings.  Thus it seems appropriate to share more widely the Reiki techniques associated with spiritual healing. Reiki III  attunes you to healing on the spiritual level. You learn both the Tibetan and Usui Master symbols and advanced energy healing techniques which could include Entity Release Work, Trauma Release, Hopi Back Work, or Focusing and Centered Guidance techniques according to student preference.

REIKI MASTER APPRENTICESHIP: a year long apprenticeship with Jaqui wherein you learn the complete mastery of our expanded form of Usui Reiki and how to teach and attune others. Students may reside in the area or complete the training as independent study from their home base.  Some travel to Montana is required.

KARUNA REIKI LEVEL I:  attunes you to this higher vibrational form of Reiki.  You will learn four symbols that can assist in healing and re-patterning shadow issues in mind body and spirit as a result of abuse, addiction, traumas of all kinds. The symbols are also wonderful enhancements to your own personal healing, your connection with guides and helpers, and your meditation experiences.

KARUNA REIKI LEVEL II:  attunes you to four more symbols and their many uses in both your own personal spiritual work and in helping and healing others.

KAURNA REIKI MASTER TRAINING  open only to Usui Reiki Masters, this training can be arranged for individuals or groups.  Students may first take the Karuna Levels I and II mentioned above, each as a separate class and then study with Jaqui independantly for the Karuna master training.  It is also possible to do Karuna Levels I, II and Master in a four day intensive.  Contact us for more information.

 ADVANCED ENERGY HEALING WORKSHOPS

HOPI BACKWORK a one day workshop open to all advanced energy workers as described above and also to chiropractors and massage therapists.  While the origin of this technique is the Native American Hopi Indian tradition, it is also a form of Qigong for it involves the release of blocked energy in the Governor Vessel, one of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians of Traditional Chinese energy anatomy.  This technique can work miracles on some clients who have chronic back pain with no identifiable physical cause. It also greatly enhances other forms of spinal healing work.

REMOVAL OF ENTITY AND SPIRIT ATTACHMENT a two day workshop open also to psychologists, counselors, doctors and nurses. While the idea of spirit attachment seems like ancient hocus pocus, more and more healers are recognizing the validity of this powerful healing work which can sometimes work miracles for clients who are not responding to more traditional forms of therapy.  You will learn the history and theory of entitiy attachment, how to diagnose and detect entities and dark energies in the energy field, removal techniques, benefits and contraindications, how to protect yourself and clients from further attachement and how to assist the souls of dying persons to move quickly into the Light,  This work is not the same as exorcism practiced by various religious groups.

BODY CENTERED FOCUSING a two day workshop and a prerequisite for the Karmic Release Workshop described below. This powerful and effective healing technique guides you into centered meditative energy body healing and helps release trauma and pain.  The body can talk to us.  You will learn to listen, to release and to heal yourself and others.  This model is based on Eugene Gendlin's Focusing technique and Arnold Mindel's Dreambody work. Participants in this training and the one below must have energy healing experience.

KARMIC ENERGY RELEASE a two day workshop. Body Centered Focusing is a required prerequisite.   A Synthesis of Past Life Regression Therapy, Body Centered Focusing supported by body energy healing. When focusing into the body, one can sometimes encounter events and imagery that seem to come from a life different from the client's ordinary reality life.  Whether this is the psychic storyteller at work, genetic memory, or actual past life occurrences does not matter in the therapeutic sense.  Rather, the purpose is to examine the life story presented, identify similarities, wounds and decisions made that are burdening the current life and  release the karmic blocks which can be the root cause of physical, mental, emotional and/or spiritual imbalance.  Based on the work of Jungian Analyst, Roger Woolger and Dr. Clyde Reid, D.D. both of whom are Jaqui's teachers.  This work is particularly effective in the case of phobias and physical symptoms with no identifiable cause.

JAQUI THIER'S  ENERGY HEALING BACKGROUND AND TRAINING

I began my energy healing studies at the Body Energy Center, Boulder, CO, in  1987 and completed certification in 1996. I return there for continuing education regularly and hope to join my teachers and a group of students in August, 2004, in China to study with Qigong healers and masters.  My teachers are Damaris Jarboux, R.N. and James MacRitchie, Dipl. Ac., who is the author of three books and various articles on Qigong. They are founding members of the National Qigong Association-USA. The certification program at the Body Energy Center included Qigong, Therapeutic Touch, Healing Touch, a variety of energy healing techniques which were eventually organized into a certification model by the Colorado Nurses and the Holistic Nurses Associations. This and much more has evolved into a dynamic body energy healing program uniquely offered by Damaris and Jim which forms the basis for my own energy healing practice and teaching.   Like the archetypal model of the wounded healer-shaman, I first used the energy practices I was studying to help heal myself after a serious auto accident. An ability to understand another's pain, and the first hand experience of the benefits of various energy body healing models, as well as my change of career into full-time counseling and healing work, were some of the benefits I derived from my own healing journey with energy work. As a result, I have become a strong believer and a dedicated practitioner and teacher of body energy therapies.

In 1997, I received attunements and completed my training to become an Usui  Reiki Master Teacher. After many years of the study and practice of various other forms of energy healing, the integration of Reiki into my healing model was effortless. The term master is sometimes applied indiscriminately in the West, in contrast to Oriental cultures wherein apprentices study for many years to earn that title. The paying of often large sums of money and a one year apprenticeship hardly qualifies a person as a master. What does make a master is many years of training and practice, in my case seventeen years of energy work and thirty five years of teaching in the public and private sectors. What does make a master is living what you know, believe, and teach on a daily basis. In these two instances, I might qualify as a master, but the term still doesn't ride easily on my shoulders. However, it is part of the Reiki tradition and using it reminds me to continue to strive to live up to it.

In 2003, I added another Reiki healing model  to my work when I studied with Laurelle Shanti Gaia in Sedona, AZ to become a Karuna Reiki Master Teacher. Karuna Reiki has its roots in Usui and Tibetan Reiki and was introduced to the modern world by William Lee Rand of the International Center for Reiki Training.  Karuna is advanced healing energy for the new millennium that assists us in awakening to Universal Compassion.  In the spring of 2003, an attunement to accelerated energy healing by a Qigong Master channeled through Mataare, a gifted trans channel and spiritual teacher,  has accelerated my energy healing practice to new and powerful levels that are an amazing gift to me and to my students and clients.  I continue to learn and grow in my energy healing work and know that my training is always ongoing.

The Qigong School At Dreamweaver Lodge

Although Reiki comes from the Tibetan tradition through the Japanese culture, broadly speaking, it is a type of Qigong. Qigong is a Chinese word which means energy (Qi) cultivation (gong). It is pronounced "chee kung" and is also spelled Chi Kung. The word is used in the West to name a wide range of practices, most originating from ancient Chinese Taoist tradition. Sometimes it is referred to as Chinese or Taoist Yoga.  These practices range from the simple to the complex and combine movement, meditation, breath, sound and visualization to stimulate the flow of vital energy or Qi/Chi, improve blood circulation, enhance immune function and intentionally alter brain wave frequency, heart rate and other organ functions. When practiced regularly, like cultivating a garden, Qigong can reduce stress, enhance energy, improve flexibility and strength, help reverse previous injury and disease, promote relaxation, build the immune system and promote healthy organ function and higher consciousness, all of which contribute to wellness of body, mind and spirit. Today, millions of people in China and around the world practice Qigong every day.    FOR MORE INFORMATION ON QIGONG VISIT OUR ARTICLES PAGE.

In 1992, I began teaching Qigong classes in Billings, MT, as part of my practice as a counselor and energy body healer. I founded the Qigong School at Dreamweaver Lodge in 1997, to offer classes, workshops and a five month certification training program in Qigong Inner Alchemy practices for individual healing and personal growth. This program is a synthesis of Qigong practices from the work of James MacRitchie, Damaris Jarboux, Master Mantak Chia and others. In 1998, I developed a ten month certification training for a group of students which offered both the Inner Alchemy training and External Qigong Healing Touch which includes Reiki I training and a synthesis of Qigong, some of the Energy Body Healing techniques from the Body Energy Center program, and other practices I have learned during my years of working with clients. Essentially, whatever I know and practice, I teach in this program. Either the five month or the ten month certification program is available to a group of four or more students willing to make the commitment to the entire series. In addition, I offer the following individual Qigong classes as one or two day intensives at Dreamweaver Lodge and, I am available to teach these in other communities. These courses are also part of the certification training in Qigong Inner Alchemy.

PEARLS OF WISDOM: an introduction to Qigong, including a brief overview of Chinese energy body anatomy including the Taoist Five Element system, the meridian system, the three Tan Tien, the Ba Gua and The I-Ching Book of Changes, and a group of easy to learn, yet powerful, internal and external Qigong practices. Includes the Energy Shower, Qigong Relaxation Practice, Letting Go to Ground Standing Form Practice and the Healing Smile. Usually a 1 day intensive.

THREE TAN TIEN: also an excellent introduction to Qigong, a simple and graceful Medical Qigong practice, from one of the leading Qigong Hospitals in Beijing, involving movement, breath and visualization for cultivating the three energy treasures of Essence, Vitality and Spirit. Usually a 1 day intensive.

MICROCOSMIC ORBIT: the acupuncture meridian system is energized by the Microcosmic Orbit consisting of the Governor and Conception vessels. This practice enables you to draw in energy at the naval and circulate it in the orbit to relieve stress, build energy, and create maximum health and well-being. Usually a 1 day intensive.

SIX HEALING SOUNDS: after learning the Taoist Five Element system of perceiving the body, mind and spirit, you then utilize the breath, sound vibration, color, postures and visualization to relax, energize and heal. The focus is on optimizing internal organ function. Usually a 1 day intensive.

FUSION OF THE FIVE ELEMENTS, CULTIVATION OF THE FIVE VIRTUES: once a secretly guarded practice, this advanced inner alchemy can help to achieve maximum health and higher spiritual consciousness. Six Healing Sounds and Microcosmic Orbit are prerequisites for this training. Usually a 2 day intensive.

BA GUA TRIGRAM PRACTICES: eight practices which relate to the Five Elements and are based on the Ba Gua and the basic I-Ching Trigrams. For those who have studied Ba Gua Feng Shui, you might think of this as Fen Shui for the human energy body. A set of Medical Qigong practices, these focus on the treatment of specific disease. Prerequisite: Pearls of Wisdom or Six Healing Sounds or permission of the instructor.
