Warriorship is a continual journey. To be a warrior is to learn to be genuine in every moment of your life. Shambala the Sacred Path of the Warrior by Chogyam Trungpa
As the sun moves through the 12 signs or constellations of the Zodiac, it "highlights" the energies and themes of the sign/constellation it falls in that month. So, during the first month of the Astrological calendar from March 21st through April 18th, the sun is in Aries, named for the Greek god of war. Warrior issues will be more prevalent in the world in general and in individuals whose birth charts reflect the Warrior as a major archetypal influence. If your "inner Warrior" is alive and well, you will feel especially empowered this month. If your Warrior is wounded, you may feel angry, frustrated, temperamental, and out of balance. However, the energies of love and compassion can balance the shadows of Warrior when Venus enters Aries, April 7th . To determine if you, a friend or family member is a Warrior, read on. Each sign has a planet that reflects the same theme and energies and in the case of Aries, the planet is Mars, named for the Roman god of war. Each sign and planet is assigned an element (fire, earth, air or water) and a modality (cardinal, fixed or mutable). Aries-Mars, the Warrior, is the energy of cardinal fire, the flaring charge into life. Thus, springtime is the appropriate season for this force. Aries is also a yang/masculine energy. There are many other correspondences such as symbols, colors, gemstones, animals, mythic gods and goddesses personality characteristics, physical strengths and weaknesses and interests and career choices associated with each sign. If you are a strong Warrior archetype, you will be inclined to identify with the following correspondences, although sometimes the opposite effect will occur if the Warrior is an undeveloped potential in your personality. Warriors like red, the color of fire and blood. The planet Mars was so named because it appeared red in the heavens and red gemstones such as Garnet and Ruby are stones warriors wore into battle as protection against wounds, bleeding and death. White and Black can also be colors of the Warrior representing the hopes, light, truth and integrity that a Spiritual Warrior/knight aspires to, and the darkness, violence and death of war. The three colors are predominant in the flags and shields of warriors ancient and modern. The astrological sign or "glyph" for Aries (above left) represents ram's horns. Since Aries rules the head, (more on that later), the ram, a powerful animal that battles with head and horns, has come to represent the constellation Aries. Rams horns were used as instruments to sound the battle call and were worn on warriors' helmets as a sign of god-like strength. The wolf, hawk, eagle, bear and horse are also animals associated with the Warrior because of their fierceness, strength and courage. The symbol for Mars, also the symbol for masculine energy in general, (above right) represents the arrow or spear and shield of the Warrior. So this is all fascinating lore you say, but how does it apply to me and my life in the modern world? If your birthday is between March 21st and April 18th, your sun is in Aries the Warrior. There are a number of other ways the Warrior can emerge in your chart. For example, your rising sign (9:00 on your chart) is Aries or the moon was in Aries at your birth, Mars resides in the sign of Aries or the first house, or you have a cluster of 3 or more planets in Aries. A complete analysis of your chart will reveal all possible Warrior options, but if you find any of the above to be true, in Archetypal Astrology/Psychology, we would say the Warrior is one of your major archetypes that guides and informs your entire life. Understanding this helps you to know your self and honor your positive Warrior nature while dealing with the shadow elements that may plague you. If the following description rings true, you are a Warrior. (Note the pronoun used in describing the Warrior is masculine gender because the Warrior is a yang energy. However, Warriors may be either men or women.) The Warrior seems to have a great mission to prove his existence as an
individual. He has a sense of the great life force within him, yet may
be shy and timid when confronted with the need to display that energy.
Having a pioneering and adventurous spirit, the Warrior represents the
fiery exuberance and innocence of youth and is related to the Fool archetype,
the innocent beginner on the path of life, that may be very naive about
the ways of the world. Self centered in both positive and shadow ways,
he often seems to judge all of existence by the extent of his own consciousness.
The more limited his personal experience, the more limited is his world
view. Honoring this Warrior/Fool theme, April begins with the Day of the
Fool. Until next month, and the Archetype of the Artist/Priestessmany
